Any of the Disney parks can be a little overwhelming sometimes with the crowds and ridiculous wait times, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still have a fun day! During all of my visits to Disneyland, I learn how to have the most efficient day and check everything off my list, even if the crowds are insane. If you’re going to the parks for a single day, follow these steps to get the most out of your trip! Since I have only been to Disneyland, here’s how I go about my day:
- Arrive at opening
Disneyland opens around seven or eight in the morning, depending on the day. Make it a goal to arrive and park your car at least twenty minutes before the park opens. That way, you have time to walk/take the tram to the park and find a good spot in line to wait at the gate. You can also hopefully beat some of the crowds by arriving early.
- Get MaxPass
If you’re a passholder to Disneyland, you have the option of adding MaxPass to your pass. However, you can also purchase it for a day trip for $20 per person. This may seem a bit pricey, but it has always been worth it for me. MaxPass allows you to get fastpasses for rides and order food from restaurants straight from your phone! Whenever I get MaxPass, I try to get fastpasses to more popular rides with longer wait times. Even though those rides may have later fastpass times, it is still worth skipping the line.
- Highlight your must-do’s
Once you’ve purchased MaxPass, it’s time to figure out your top attractions for the day. What are you dying to see? What attraction do you HAVE to see before leaving the parks? Narrow down your top priorities for the day. Don’t forget to fit in some character meet and greets!
- Take a break
Don’t forget to stop and relax for a bit during your busy day! Hang out at a restaurant or just sit and people watch! After all, Disney parks are the best places for people watching. If you have some extra time between fastpasses, take a minute to sit down and enjoy your surroundings in the parks!
- Take advantage of show times
The end of the day at Disneyland means there will be shows to watch including the fireworks, Fantasmic or World of Color. Take note of these times earlier in the day so you can decide if you want to watch them or not. Some show times are also a perfect time to go on some rides! A majority of the guests at the parks will be watching one or more of the nighttime shows, so that means there will be less people waiting in lines. If you don’t want to watch the shows, hop on some rides! Some of them are best at night!
Believe it or not, you are able to have the most efficient day at the Disney parks regardless of the crowds. Just follow these steps and you’re good to go! Have a magical day.
