My Top 5: Classic Disney Movies

I’ve watched Disney movies for my whole life and they always make me happy. Even though I love the new Disney movies, you can’t go wrong with the classics. Here are my top 5 favorites:

1. Tangled

This is my absolute favorite Disney movie! It follows the unique story of Rapunzel that you may or may not have known before. For the first time ever, she escapes her tower and learns more about who she really is. Rapunzel is always smiling and curious of the unknown and is up for any adventure. Her strong positivity and curiosity are why she’s my favorite! Every Disney princess has to have an animal sidekick of course, and Rapunzel’s is Pascal the chameleon!

2. Sleeping Beauty

Aurora is my second favorite Disney princess behind Rapunzel. Her story stands out to me from others since she is practically raised by three fairies and doesn’t know that she is a princess until she turns sixteen. Maleficent is the villain in Sleeping Beauty and she also stands out from the other Disney villains. First of all, she has the ability to turn into a dragon so, yeah. Second, she’s an evil fairy which isn’t commonly seen in Disney. If you go to Disneyland, check out the Fantasmic show where you see Maleficent turn into a dragon!

3. Aladdin

This movie has awesome music, a lot of humor and a great message for girls. Robin Williams is the voice of the Genie and is basically the center of all humor in the movie. He also acts as a source of comic relief during serious scenes. The music in the film adapts to the setting of an Arabian city called Agrabah so there are lots of flutes, chimes, and string instruments of course. Jasmine, the princess in this movie, teaches a valuable lesson to girls. Her father wants an arranged marriage for her, but she believes that marriage should be for love and love only. Her rebellious character denies following her father’s rules and eventually falls in love with Aladdin.

4. The Emperor’s New Groove

This must be the funniest and most entertaining Disney movie in my collection. It follows the story of an Aztec emperor who is transformed into a llama from a potion accidentally given to him by Yzma, the villain in the film. She wishes to take his place as emperor and with intentions to poison him, she accidentally uses the other potion. You follow the journey of Kuzco as a talking llama as he tries to make his way back to his palace after being misplaced by his new companion, Pacha, at his village home. This is the perfect movie to watch when you are in a Disney mood and a comedy mood.

5. Princess and the Frog

This is a sweet love story and a commonly known fairy-tale. Taking place in New Orleans, a young waitress, Tiana, who seeks to own her very own restaurant crosses unlikely paths with a European prince named Prince Naveen. He makes a risky deal with a voodoo doctor and turns into a frog. He finds himself at a costume party that Tiana is attending and believes that if she kisses him, he’ll be turned back to a human. However, the exact opposite happens and both of them are now frogs. The major story of the film is the journey they take to break the spell and become humans again. The other animals they meet and the songs they sing will lift your spirits!

There’s no doubt that I have watched these five Disney films more than once. Each one is entertaining and some of the best from Disney. What are your favorite Disney movies?
