Welcome to the first “My Top 5” post! If you love Marvel and all of their movies, then keep reading. I love watching all Marvel movies, but I have five specific ones that I will always watch without a doubt and will never become boring to me. I most likely own these on DVD or they are on my watch list on Netflix. If you’re ever in a Marvel mood, these are a must-watch:
1.Captain America: Winter Soldier
This is the second Captain America movie and my favorite out of the three. This also may be my favorite Marvel movie overall. There is nonstop action and I love the character development. You learn a lot more about Bucky and the relationship he has with Steve as well as Natasha and her role in the Marvel Universe. If you have no idea who Bucky and Natasha are, go watch Captain America: The First Avenger and the first Avengers to learn more about them! The plot in Captain America: Winter Soldier is extremely captivating and there are several villains to keep up with. Falcon is also introduced into the universe as a new hero in this movie and he becomes a favorite character among many. The second Captain America film also explores Hydra more, the infamous group of evil individuals that associate with the early years of Captain America in the first film of the trilogy. Many questions about the group are answered and unexpected members of the group are exposed. If you also want to listen to an awesome music score, turn it on!
2. Avengers: Age of Ultron
Similar to Captain America, this is the second Avengers movie out of the four and my favorite among them. Even though the story line is pretty distant and random compared to the other Avengers movies, it’s one of my favorite stories. There are several new characters that are introduced including Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, Vision, and Clint’s (Hawkeye’s) family. Scarlet Witch and Vision become major characters later on. The action in the film keeps you on the edge of your seat and is constant. The relationship between Natasha and Bruce (Hulk) begins at this point and carries on throughout the later films. You also get a sneak peak into the lives of each member of the Avengers, through the powers of Scarlet Witch, and learn more about their complex lives. This movie also shows how the teamwork within the Avengers has improved and becomes a habit for them.
3. Black Panther
This is a more recent Marvel movie but a great way to introduce a new addition to the Avengers and the story behind the new hero. To me, this movie has a different feeling than most of the other Marvel films. It’s very colorful, visually appealing and the plot is easy to follow. My favorite parts about this movie is the music score and the soundtrack. Since the film takes place in a fictional and hidden country in Africa, the music definitely connects with the setting. You can easily identify the African instruments like different types of drums and flutes. The score also has a hip-hop twist to it making the music modern and the action scenes even more energized. Turn this on to hear some really cool music and watch even cooler action scenes.
4. Guardians of the Galaxy
Guardians has some of the best humor among the Marvel movies which is expected with Chris Pratt as the leading actor. It also has one of the best soundtracks which includes classic songs from the 1970s. I would say the movie is best known for its soundtrack as well as its characters. As of now, there are two Guardians movies but the first one is my favorite. It’s a great movie to watch when you want to laugh! The Guardians of the Galaxy eventually become part of the Avengers and this movie explains their origin and how they came to be. As you may know, there are six infinity stones in the Marvel universe and each one is featured in a different movie leading up to Avengers: Infinity War. The Power stone is featured in the first Guardians and becomes a major part of the movie’s plot.
5. Spider-Man: Homecoming
Even though the original Spider-Man movies will always be favorites of mine, Marvel takes Spider-Man to the next level in Homecoming. Peter Parker is played by Tom Holland who has the look of both a high school student and a superhero. In my opinion, the previous Spider-Man actors only possessed one of the two qualities. This movie introduces the brand new Spider-Man and therefore takes you through his upbringing. Aunt May is in this film just like in the others before, but she is much younger. It took me a while to get used to the younger May, but I think she is a unique new character in the Marvel universe. Tony Stark, or Iron Man, becomes aware of Peter and his role of the “friendly neighborhood Spider-Man” in the movie and becomes a major mentor to him. Therefore, the movie hints of Spider-Man’s entry into the Avengers later on. Watch Spider-Man: Homecoming if you also want to hear a great soundtrack and then go check out the sequel, Spider-Man: Far From Home.
These five films are my absolute favorites from Marvel. They are all super unique in their own way and are always entertaining! What are your favorite Marvel movies?
